Amy Thompson is an abstract artist who works with many mediums. Most recently she has begun experimental pieces in resin, ink and cold wax with oils. Her current work in oils has been a welcome return to her painting roots. The pieces she is now creating have been her most challenging, yet most enjoyable to create and exhibit.

Her exhibit, “The Littles,” at The North Sioux City Library, showcases her playfulness with alcohol ink, acrylic and watercolor.

A working artist for over 10 years in Siouxland, she has been published and exhibited locally and nationally. While she mainly works out of her garage, she recently opened her own Gallery and Studio at 2829 Correctionville Road in Sioux City. Her work can also be viewed at, on Facebook at Amy Thompson’s Art: Prairie Fire Gallery and on Instagram @prairiefirestudio.

As a special treat, Amy will be holding a reception at the Library on August 29th from 5:00-7:30pm.  At this time she will be selling her one of a kind crosses that are currently on display, along with new creations she will be bringing that evening.  Don’t miss this great event.
