Drawn to the Land: Homesteading Dakota

A Traveling exhibit from the South Dakota State Historical Society

April 13th-May 22nd

From 1860 to 1920, thousands of homesteaders poured into Dakota from across the country and overseas. Many stayed, making a home for themselves and their descendents. Stop in the library and see historic photographs, artifact images and text to tell the story of the homesteading experience in Dakota.

This exhibit is free to the public and being brought to you by the Friends of the North Sioux City Community Library.

Craft Night at the Library

Thursday, April 16

6:30-7:30 pm

Come spend an hour at the library (adults only!) making a seasonal craft. Reserve your spot because limited space is available. This is a FREE event but bring your own vase and branches.

NSCC Library is pleased to announce a new partnership with Driving-Tests.org, one of the nation's top sites for driver's license practice tests.

The new service includes free tests, written specifically based on the state DMV materials, and is the only site of its kind to include accessibility tools that allow users to hear selections read aloud, make them into MP3s, translate pages into other languages, magnify text, and mask sections of the screen for greater visibility on driving practice tests. Movie Event

Song of the Sea

2015 Reading Challenge

Join the NSCCL staff and fellow patrons in taking the 2015 Reading Challenge. Be challenged this year to read a book that became a movie, a book based on a true story, a book from your childhood, a book you started but never finished, etc. The books must be read in 2015 to count and each challenge must be a different book. Once the challenge is completed, bring in your paper to share. We would love to see what you read, what surprised you and what book(s) was a struggle to get through but you did it! Pick up the 2015 Reading Challenge sheet at the library and explore some new reads this year!
